Sony | Music Center

What Sony | Music Center Does

Sony | Music Center is a companion app for managing compatible Sony audio equipment from an Android phone. It can also play music stored on the phone, including supported Hi-Res tracks. The app suits people who use Sony speakers, receivers, sound systems, car audio products, or other compatible equipment and want playback and device settings in one place.

Playback and Device Control

Depending on the connected hardware, you can browse and play music from a smartphone, CD source, USB storage, or a computer and NAS drive over a DLNA network. The app can provide access to controls such as equalizer settings, sleep timers, network options, and other device-specific adjustments.

Compatible Sony speakers can also be grouped for multi-room playback, wireless stereo, or surround arrangements. These options depend on the models being used, and the app does not provide the same controls for every Sony product.

Compatibility and Limitations

• Control features require a Sony audio device that supports Sony | Music Center; products that worked with SongPal are included in the supported family.
• Some functions and services vary by device and region.
• Starting with app version 7.4, Android 9.0 or later is required.
• Atom processor-based mobile devices are not supported.
• The app supports TalkBack and may use the microphone for voice operation.

Ratings and Reach

Published by Sony Corporation in the Music & Audio category, Sony | Music Center has a 4.46 rating from about 280,114 reviews and more than 10 million installs. It is most useful when paired with compatible Sony hardware; without that equipment, its main role is local music playback rather than full audio-system control.
